Bayern hit by injury blows as two key players face lengthy spells on the sidelines

Bayern Munich’s preparations for the upcoming fixtures have been severely disrupted by two major injury setbacks. Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano are both expected to miss extended periods of play, posing a significant challenge to the club’s depth ahead of their demanding schedule.

Davies, who has been a standout performer for Bayern this season, suffered a serious blow during his international duties with Canada. After returning from international duty, it was revealed that the 24-year-old winger has torn his ACL in his right knee.

He will undergo surgery immediately and will be unavailable for several months, leaving a major gap in the club’s defensive and offensive options. The Bayern medical team is optimistic about his recovery, though his absence will be deeply felt by the team.

In addition to the blow to their defensive strength, Dayot Upamecano has been ruled out for several weeks due to a knee issue. The French defender has been diagnosed with loose cartilage in his left knee, and the club’s medical staff has advised rest and treatment for the time being. This further compounds Bayern’s injury woes, as both key players now face a lengthy recovery process.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl shared his thoughts on the situation: “International breaks are always a period where the risk of injury is high, but these are two significant losses for us. We know how important Alphonso and Dayot are to our defence and overall team structure. Both players will have our full support as they focus on their recoveries, and we’re confident they will return stronger.”
