Singer 2Baba gets appointed as adviser to Benue state governor (Video)

Popular Afrobeat legend Innocent Idibia, professionally known as 2Baba has been given a political appointment as the technical adviser on Entertainment and community outreach, bestowed upon him by Benue State governor Rev. Hyacinth Alia.

The appointment, confirmed following a visit by the 2Baba Foundation to the Government House in Makurdi, is aimed at leveraging the entertainer’s influence to boost grassroots development and cultural engagement.

The 2Baba Foundation, known for its work in youth empowerment and peace-building, met with the governor to discuss strategic partnerships to enhance talent development and community initiatives across the state. Idibia, a native of Benue State, was accompanied by his wife, Natasha.

Governor Alia praised Idibia’s longstanding impact on Nigeria’s music scene and his commitment to social advocacy, expressing optimism that the appointment would bridge the gap between government and creative industries. He also thanked the singer for supporting his government, especially the 2027 elections.

He said, “You have contributed a lot of quarters to different areas including outside the states. Let me thank you very uniquely for supporting my administration and for preparing me for 2027 and I feel it will not be out of place at all because you’re a guru of entertainment. Once you say 2face, people start dancing even without a song.”

On behalf of the Benue state govt, we want to give you some more responsibilities plus the ones you have been doing because you have the capacity to do and help us chalk the way forward, to improve other people’s lives and to gain small more from your wisdom and attachments as well.”

“So, I’m pleased to announce that we are making you Technical Adviser to the Governor on Entertainment and Community Outreach.”
