Famous Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor professionally known as Rema made a powerful return to his roots with a heartfelt tribute that resonated deeply with Benin’s cultural pride.

Arriving in his beloved hometown of Benin, Edo State, ahead of his highly anticipated homecoming concert coming up tomorrow August 31st, 2024, Rema was on a mission to reconnect with his heritage and pay tribute to those who have paved the way before him.

The concert, set to take place at the iconic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, was announced in July, sparking excitement across the nation. Rema’s visit was not just about his music; it was a display of deep respect and cultural homage, celebrating the land that shaped him.

He met with Edo State Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and mingled with the city’s elite, expressing his gratitude to the dignitaries who have supported his meteoric rise.

However, the true highlight of his homecoming was his visit to the palace of the Oba of Benin. There, Rema took his reverence to new heights by kneeling before the Oba, showing deep respect to the revered monarch—a gesture that underscored his strong connection to his cultural roots.

With the monarch’s blessing, Rema made a bold request: to perform his hit song “Calm Down” in the sacred halls of the palace.

With permission granted, the young star launched into an a cappella rendition of his chart-topping hit, his voice ringing out clear and strong.

The atmosphere became electrifying as everyone in the room, from the royal court to the guests, joined in, their voices blending in a harmonious tribute that filled the air with unity and celebration.
