Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Abdul Gafar Abiola, better known as Cute Abiola, has remembered late musician Mohbad today September 12th, marking his first year death anniversary.

Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, was a fast-rising Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper. He gained fame as part of the Marlian Music label, owned by Naira Marley. Born on June 8, 1996, in Lagos, Mohbad’s unique blend of street-style music and Afrobeat earned him widespread recognition in Nigeria’s music industry.

Mohbad became famous with hits like “Ponmo,” “Feel Good,” and “KPK” (Ko Por Ke). He was known for his unique voice, catchy songs, and lively performances. His music connected with many, especially young people, because it talked about street life, hard work, and success.

Despite his success, Mohbad’s career wasn’t without controversy. In late 2022, he made headlines after a public feud with his former label, Marlian Music. He claimed to have been harassed and assaulted by members of the label after voicing his desire to leave due to disputes over his career management and personal issues.

Sadly, Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. His death sent shockwaves across Nigeria, with fans and fellow artists expressing their grief and paying tribute to his talents.

In remembrance of his tragic passing, Cute Abiola took to his Instagram page to pay his tribute with an old emotional video showing the moment the late singer gave his testimony in a white garment church.

In the video, Mohbad expressed gratitude to God for making him a light that refused to dim.

In his words, “Amen, somebody, I am here today to share my testimony. The Lord has been so good to me; He made me the light that refuses to dim. So, looking back from where I’m from to where I am now, I feel blessed.”

Cute Abiola captioned the video, “A YEAR AGO TODAY 💔 💐 REST ON LEGEND”.
