Popular music streaming platform, Spotify, has turned many heads in Nigeria by celebrating 10 years anniversary of award-winning Afrobeat star Wizkid’s iconic hit song ‘Ojuelegba’ off his second album ‘Ayo (Joy)’.
Wizkid, one of Nigeria’s top performers, released ‘Ojuelegba’ in 2014 and it quickly became sensation in Nigeria and beyond. The song, named after the Ojuelegba neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, is a tribute to Wizkid’s roots and his journey to fame. Its catchy beat and relatable lyrics struck a chord with fans globally, cementing Wizkid’s spot in the music industry and introducing many to Afrobeat.
TUo honor the 10th anniversary of ‘Ojuelegba’, Spotify has launched a unique celebration that blends music and storytelling. The music narrative, captured in a video, showed a collection of features giving deep understanding story of the nostalgia track and its journey through the years.
In the video, a man was seen with his 10-year-old daughter, sharing experience on how he fell in love with the song and the whole city would not stop singing the song.
He also explained how Ojuelegba was Wizkid’s roots and where he spent his childhood days.
