While many Nigerians have started calling for the arrest of Subomi and Wahab, sons of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, a video of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu speaking about the billionaire has raised several eyebrows online.
Recall that a few days ago, Intel Region reported that a viral video surfaced online where Subomi and his brother Wahab were seen spraying naira notes while a police officer held stacks of the currency, a violation of Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
However, The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) said on Friday that it had identified and detained the policeman captured in the video. The tweet on the NPF page on X reads; “The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action.”
Responding, Subomi Okoya apologized to the police in a post on X, admitting he had not fully understood the consequences of his actions.
“To the Nigerian people, my actions were not to cause any trouble or harm. My intentions were pure and naive.
“I ask for your forgiveness and support in this situation as I had no intention to raise such an alarm. I wasn’t fully aware of the consequences of my action,” he wrote.
However, this apology did not go well with many Nigerians including activist VeryDarKman who called on Police and other prominent figures to ensure that Okoya sons get arrested just like the way the police officer was detained over naira abuse.
However, latest information that surfaced online today, January 11th 2025 disclosed that EFCC invites Okoya’s sons for interrogation over naira abuse.

In the clip, president Tinubu was seen disclosing how billionaire Rasak Okoya has been helpful to his life. He noted that billionaire industrialist Rasak Okoya used to give him money whenever he is broke.
