Barcelona centre-back Inigo Martinez spoke about his impressions after Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League semifinals.
He recounted his clash with Francesco Acerbi, which was not captured on TV. He also complained about the referee’s decisions.
Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez lamented that, in the defeat against Inter Milan (4-3) after which his team has been knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals, “the referee’s decisions have always gone the same way”.
“We don’t want to blame him either. These are moments to make decisions and he has made them this way. It couldn’t have been, it’s a shame,” argued the Basque centre-back.
Inigo was asked about a scuffle with Acerbi, who accused the ‘Cules’ defender of spitting at him in celebration of Inter’s second goal. “He celebrated the goal in my ear, I got angry, but the spit was not for him,” he explained. All in all, the Barcelona centre-back pointed out that his team faces next Sunday’s league ‘Clasico’ against Real Madrid with confidence.
“The team arrives very well to Sunday’s match. Today, we have been better, but the pity is that the decisions have fallen for the same side. It’s a shame because we were on the verge of the final,” he said.
