APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe has ignited controversy by accusing Olori Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, of being insensitive for dancing shortly after her release from police detention.
Olori Naomi was arrested in connection with a tragic stampede at a Christmas party she organized, which claimed the lives of over 30 children.
A court in Ibadan ordered her and her co-organizers, including popular radio broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat, to be remanded at Agodi Prison.
The incident, which deeply shook the state and left families grieving, has placed Olori Naomi under intense public scrutiny.
After days in custody, she and others were granted bail by Justice K.B. Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court in Ring Road, Ibadan. However, her release quickly sparked controversy when a video of her surfaced online.
A video allegedly shared by those close to Olori Naomi showed her, her mother, and two other women dancing and celebrating with joyful expressions.
While some argued the video was old and unrelated to her release, many believed it was recent—including Joe Igbokwe, who took to social media to express his outrage.
Igbokwe condemned the celebration, calling it a slap in the face to the grieving families of the children who died in the stampede. He described the act as callous, thoughtless, and lacking any sign of remorse.
He wrote on Facebook; “These people forgot that 36 Children died in the stampede. This dance is bad behavior, no conscience, no remorse, no empathy, no regrets, no sympathy etc. This is despicable behavior and inhuman . This video was posted yesterday by one Olufunke Ayokunle .”
This comes after Oriyomi Hamzat breaks into tears as he makes first public appearance after being granted bail.
