Popular comedian and singer Bright Okputa, known as Basketmouth, recently explained why he took a jab at music star Ayo Balogun, aka Wizkid, during Davido’s traditional wedding about two weeks ago.
Wizkid had previously sparked reactions with a cryptic tweet following the online posting of Davido’s pre-wedding photos.
In response, Basketmouth commented on how Davido’s wedding had dominated social media, implying that no one paid attention to Wizkid’s tweet. This remark led to backlash from many, particularly fans of Wizkid, known as Wizkid FC.
In a new video, Basketmouth revealed that his tweet shading Wizkid was a strategic marketing technique, designed to spark outrage. The comedian and actor stated:
“Wizkid is my guy, what I did was a marketing technique, I knew it was edgy, it would get people talking and it did what I expected it to do, it worked in my favour and I sold out.”
